Most American Idol Finalists Involved in Leading Worship

gokey_thumbNot that I’d ever watch anything so frivolous — or, you know, involving instrumental music 🙄 — but it’s fascinating that MTV has learned (and reported!) that six of the remaining contestants either lead worship or otherwise participate in Christian music.

According to Brokaw’s research, at least six of the remaining top 11 contenders have ties to the church. Among them are Gokey, who she said ran two services in two different cities every Sunday for Faith Builders International until his wife’s death; worship leaders Sarver and Allen; gospel-quartet member and churchgoer MacIntrye; Giraud, who has released two Christian CDs; and Rounds, who has said she “grew up in church.”

So I knew there was a reason I was pulling for Danny — that is, I would be if I were to watch such a thing. 😀

Every year as the NFL season is winding down, I turn over the remotes to my wife so that we can watch "American Idol" during the spring. I don't mind too much, since I like it too. Many good singers over the years have come from worship leading backgrounds.

So far no one really quelstions the tile of the show "American IDOL", which actually has to do with idolatry. Face it and leave it, brothers!

I pity these misled and misleading worship leaders for not realizing where the are; and I pity the teachers in the various churches of Christ who encourage conformity rather than separation. They will have to give an answer to Him who said: Touch no unclean thing! (2Co 6:17)

So these naive ones imitate the IDOLS of the wotrld, because they find them "cool", bring in this new noise of Baal into the assembly of the saints. CCM has its roots in the idolatry of the world – and our worshipleaders partake in "American IDOL" – how fitting, and how disgusting this is …

Sorry to say it in such a straightforward tone. But this confirms ALL my objections to the worldyness of our generation.
