Sorry, I meant no disrepect to Catholics. Usually they are so well organized that they can work under their own flag.
Our congregation regulary does work projects with local charities, most commonly for homeless and elderly.

Larry, in my experience, joint efforts by various congregations to serve the poor or protect the unborn or publicly declare the name of Jesus in the city usually find some of their best support from the Catholics and the least support from the CoC. I have seen this firsthand. Personally, I would rather help a busload of nuns serve soup than spend one minute listening to some preacher tell me how dangerous that is. When my children wanted to serve their own community, they had to step outside their CoC to do it.

Evangelism works the same way. You don't find the RCC taking out newspaper ads condemning a Franklin Graham crusade.

Just sayin'.

KLF, thanks for that link. I noticed a lot of "independent" groups in that list...

The following link is from a town in Wyoming, probably 60,000 poeple or so. At least 15 churches from the community are getting together for a day of service. The Christian church is participating but sadly the church of Christ is not.

A good friend who was a missionary (coc) in Africa for many years told me he worked with and had great times of prayer and fellowship with Assembly of God, Presbyterian, and Baptist missionaries. He is very, very conservative but when not under the strict scrutiny of the ever watching "brotherhood" it is easier to love and work with believers who are not like us.

Excellent post Jay.

Somehow it seems very unlikely that we will see xxxx Methodist Association as the payee on a c of C check!
The middle ground could be local inter-denominational charities like Jones County Christian Orphans Center.
I make a bet that protestant groups will unite and it will be eons before they receive a Catholic check!
