You can’t help but notice that number 2, Ohio State, is closer to number 9 Michigan than to number 1 Alabama over the last two years.
Thanks to Dr. Saturday.

Now Jay, if you keep insisting on putting all this Bama stuff on your blog I'm going to be forced to remove you from my blogroll! I can't have ALABAMA showing up on my home page with regularity. 😉
Go Vols!!!
Mitchell,
No worries. I'm sure I'll have nothing to say on the subject of basketball for this year. Football is over until fall. But you can count on something come October.
I'm really struggling with no football! If it hadn't been for my Steelers this would have been the worst year ever as far as being a fan. Vols tanked, Fulmer canned, Titans fold. Ahh but as you say, October. . .the promises of fall.
Roll Tide. Its great to be a Bama fan. "My homes in Alabama no matter where I lay my head"…..RTR
I didnt know they recruited kids going from Jr. High school to High school!!!!
Really, the class looks good, however…….. its a long way from the recruiting to the playing field.
Glad to know Colt McCoy's coming back to lead the Longhorns and you know….. THEY C-O-U-L-D G-O A-L-L T-H-E W-A-Y!!!!!!!!!
Jim,
Colt McCoy was a three-star quarterback coming out of high school — which should warn us all about relying too heavily on these rankings. On the other hand, http://www.rollbamaroll.com did a statistical analysis on the SEC teams a while back, comparing the rankings of recruiting classes to final SEC ranks. They found an 80% correlation. The other 20% is explained by things like coaching, injuries, schedule, etc. 80% of a team's success comes from the quality of the recruits. Of course, Texas always recruits well.
Maybe we'll see Texas in the BCS this coming year.
