    Jacksonville Church of Christ
    6118 Bowden Rd

San Jose Church of Christ or Argyle Church of Christ would probably be the best bets.

The Jacksonville Church of Christ isn't progressive. It's ICOC. Although reports from a few years ago (from the last thing I've heard) make it a "progressive" congregation in terms of the ICOC, none of the ICOC churches have presented a new theology (since 2003 – going on over seven years now) that would clearly allow there to be Christians in all of the major denominations and fellowships, so they can't be progressive in the Church of Christ sense. ICOC churches should still be avoided unless a congregation wants to clearly and fully break away from the herd.

I am from Jacksonville, and now live in Alabama. I would also suggest San Jose. My family and I have many close friends at San Jose, I feel quite confident in recommending them to your friend. My parents were married there, and I have done several weddings there. The preacher is Mike Johnson. This is for the church website: http://www.sjcc.us/#/welcome

I was in the ICOC for many years. I have a friend (still in the reformed ICOC) who was baptized by Kip McKean before the BCOC who says that the former ICOC “perfected the legalism of the COC”. The mentality was to MAKE things happen by human effort and take that as the sign of God working through the church. McKean was the son of a navy admiral and a worldy, militaristic mindset at some point creeped into his walk with God and he has not, apparently even to this day, come to his senses. But if Solomon could wind up doing evil in the sight of God later in life, so can we all. Imagine what might have happened to Peter were it not for Paul and his own humility?
