Instrumental Worship Music of the Season: It’s About the Cross

by Go Fish
Verse 1:

It’s not just about the manger
Where the baby lay
It’s not all about the angels
Who sang for him that day

It’s not just about the shepherds
Or the bright and shining star
It’s not all about the wisemen
Who travelled from afar

Chorus:
It’s about the cross
It’s about my sin
It’s about how Jesus came to be born once
So that we could be born again

It’s about the stone
That was rolled away
So that you and I could have real life someday

It’s about the cross
It’s about the cross

Verse 2:

It’s not just about the presents
Underneath the tree
It’s not all about the feeling
That the season brings to me

It’s not just about coming home
To be with those you love
It’s not all about the beauty
In the snow I’m dreaming of

Repeat Chorus

Bridge:

The beginning of the story is wonderful and great
But it’s the ending that can save you and that’s why we celebrate

It’s about the cross
It’s about my sin
It’s about how Jesus came to be born once
So that we could be born again

It’s about God’s love
Nailed to a tree
It’s about every drop of blood that flowed from Him when it should have been me

It’s about the stone
That was rolled away
So that you and I could have real life someday
So that you and I could have real life someday

It’s about the cross
It’s about the cross

Jay, I know this would be a lot of work for you, but you please explain the book of Revelation. Thank you so very much and God Bless you. Irvin Deskins at [email protected]

  2. Jay Guin says:

So, Irvin, you can't be serious …

Actually, there are several good books on the Revelation. But I'm no expert. I am, however, slowly learning it bits and pieces at a time. The more I learn the Prophets, the more the Revelation starts to make sense. But I'm nowhere near ready to write to write commentary.

  3. Dwight says:

Sometimes I think the book of Revelations is a distraction, at least when we try to understand it in detail. Revelations paints a picture and pictures aren’t made to picked apart. Revelations was used as a way to inspire the saints with imagery, but not as gospel to save or make them better saints.

BTW the song is a good one. Jesus birth was important and great, but even that great thing was to point to something greater. Anybody can be born (and they are without any self-involvement besides being there), but not everybody will lay down their life for those they know do not deserve it. But of course, not everyone could leave the comforts of heaven to be born and be ridiculed and go their death for sinners.
