Do the Pew Shuffle

A South Carolina church plant bought a traditional building — resulting in pew-sitting culture shock. And so they came up with this video to explain. But it’s old hat to us old-time church goers.

Who’d’a’thunk churches would one day reach people so unchurched they don’t know how to navigate tightly packed pews?

(JMF: “Who’d’a’thunk” is redneck for “Who would have thought.” Let me know if “old hat” requires idiomatic interpretation.)

You posted this just because one of the guys was wearing an Alabama cap. 😉

Now excuse me while I grab my hym-in-al…

I am vacationing in Destin, so allow me a Southern story:

I was waiting to pay at a restaurant in Alabama (okay, it really wasn't Alabama. this was Oklahoma), and an older guy was ahead of me. Certainly retired and bored, I could tell he was in no hurry to conclude his transaction.

As he chatted with the waitress that was pulling his tab, she made some sort of mistake.

    She said, "Oh, I'm sorry."

He responded, "Well hello, Sorry, my name is Dale!!!"

"whoda thunk" this video would be taken out of context so many times on so many christian blogs?

I am a member of the church that created the video you wrote about. Every year the leaders of our church create a song and video for the volunteers that help midtown run for each service. We don’t own the church that video was shot in, we use this church as well as space in the state museum (as we hold three services at two locations to house everyone). I’m glad you enjoyed the video… We have a new one that was just released for this years volunteer appreciation night. Check out the video and midtown’s site. It’s a great place.
