I’ll be traveling to Lewisburg, Pennsylvania to have treatment on my right hip. I have a condition called trochanteric bursitis.
“Trochanteric” refers to the trochanter, which is the knobby part of your hip bone that sticks out to the side. “Bursitis” is Greek for “hurts a lot.”
I’ve had steroid injections, sat on ice packs for more hours than I can count, and have rested my hip very diligently. Conservative treatment has failed.
The treatment is sonic shock wave therapy. The doctor will use sound waves to bust up the tissue where it hurts, hoping it heals back less painfully. Since it couldn’t possibly heal in a way that hurts more, there’s no downside.
Studies show a success rate of about 67%. It’s done under local anesthesia. Walk in and hobble out the same day.
I fly out Wednesday and fly back Friday. Prayers would be greatly appreciated.
