There’s recently been a worldwide attack on WordPress sites. I did everything I was warned to do to avoid the attack. Still got hacked.
It’s been cleaned up by the fine folks at Sucuri. But while they were cleaning, Google flagged the site as dangerous. We’ve asked Google to retest and remove the flag. That should happen by morning.
Thanks to everyone who emailed to let me know about the problem. Since I was on the road, I would not have known otherwise. The warnings are greatly appreciated.
I’m investigating other protections against hackers — more expensive methods, I’m sure. I’ll keep you informed.
Meanwhile, I’m still on break while I deal with this dang piriformis syndrome. The direct injection into the piriformis muscle to stop the spasms has helped. I’ll get an injection tomorrow for bursitis.
Then more visits to doctors’ offices to put together a long-term strategy.
You got hit with the SeekTheOldPaths (STOP) virus. It shuts down any programs that are not authorized, and then uninstalls illegal apps like Innovation and TheLordsChurch Version 2.0 or higher (Version 1.0 is the only version that will allow you to save). It will, however, allow you to operate certain programs after they’ve been scanned by Expedient ANTI-virus and cleaned of all malicious ChangeAgent code. Once the STOP virus has activated, changes can only be made through the Proper Authority menu in the Control Panel (requires eldership account).
STOP is believed to have been created by a Florida College student in the 60’s as an attempt to prevent “cooperation” by systems that were designed to work in stand-alone mode only. These systems were in danger of suffering a Fatal Error due to unauthorized networking. It was a tumultuous time in this nacent industry, as company leaders were circumventing proper oversight by outsourcing support to independent organizations, which led the Congressional Lectureship Committee to investigate possible violations of the Divine Pattern Act. Hearings were held at the Continental Federation Tribunal Facility (CFTF) in Spring Texas. No defendants were allowed to testify on their behalf, and all evidence was presented in the form of book reviews by committee members. Not surprisingly, everyone was found guilty and ordered to pay repentance plus court costs.
Sorry, couldn’t resist… ;-P
Thanks, Fox. I needed the laugh.
Kinda scary how smoothly that all fit together….
