I’ve been tied up on several extremely complex transactions, and somehow or other, lawyers all over the country began calling me on my cell — at all hours. And I just hate talking on my cell.

I have no idea how I came across this. But I accidentally discovered a Windows utility called Autoruns, which is a free download and wonderful.

This is not for computer newbies, understand? And you need to set a restore point before you begin (if this makes no sense to you, then this program is NOT for you).

The program does the most thorough job of detailing services and programs running on your computer of any program out there — FAR better than msconfig or Nortons or any other utility I can find. Continue reading →

Eli Cole, a doctoral student at Amridge University, has asked me to pass along a survey he’s using for his dissertation.

It’s called “Why Members Are Leaving the Churches of Christ.” Only those who’ve left should complete the form.

Click on this link to SurveyMonkey, and an automated survey form will pop up. It won’t take long to fill out.

You’ll notice that the questions are asked from the perspective of someone who considers folks like me “liberal.” But to me, that makes answering the survey all the more important.

You see, at long last, the more conservative Churches of Christ are willing to ask what’s wrong! Please answer thoroughly and honestly.

I’m considering whether our Bible classes should teach “The Story” for 31 weeks, starting in December. It’s been recommended to me by someone I greatly respect.

Been really busy lately. I think I’m on the downhill slope, but I need to spend a little time recuperating. 12-hour work days, work-filled weekends, and lots of church work gets a bit old after a while.

So I’ll be on break for the next few days. I’ll probably write — but not under the entirely self-imposed pressure to post daily. I actually find writing very relaxing — but only if I have enough time so that I’m not pushing deadlines. I get enough of that at work. And church.

Winter quarter for the adult Bible classes starts in December  — which is only two months away. So I’ve been pondering what to cover after Galatians and Creation 2.0.

Well, for a while now, I’ve been thinking I might teach a Wednesday night class on how to study the Bible — starting with some elementary concepts and building on them for however long the class students could stand to listen to me — maybe even getting into a little New Testament Greek.
