A Plea to Shephards
Hello Friends,
I have missed our study of Proverbs. I have missed sharing with you our discoveries. We will begin anew, refreshed, tomorrow. I had to take a break from our daily search into God’s wisdom. It was a fast. I fasted for the wave that I had to ride needed my full focus. I had to deliver an introduction to a message to my shepherds. A message that requires them to submit to and lead a God-fearing and loving body of Christ into uncharted territory of recent history.
The Proverbs speak of not removing the boundary markers that your forefathers have set. Can you imagine the strife and arguments that take place if we were to go to our neighbor in whom we are to love and build a new fence on their turf and claim their property as our own without agreement? Only a fool steals property and not expect a fight to the death. Such as it is with the faith.
We operate in faith not by contract or force of will, but by covenant. A covenantal relationship is far superior to contract or force of will. It is one of mutual honor, respect, dignity, agreement, love and duty. It is full of integrity. It must be honored with God’s word, wisdom, knowledge, understanding and most importantly Love. Love for God as we seek to please him; and love for our fellow seeker. It is a covenant.
There are many covenants amongst the faithful. The primary is that of God’s. He will bless those who obey him; he will curse those that disobey him. The second is that of human mutual love. We are to love our neighbors. The third is the one between Christ and his called out. He is the head and the called out is his bride, the body, the faithful that believe that Jesus is the Christ, the son of the living God. For Christ Jesus our Lord, God, came to earth in the form of a man and laid himself down as a sacrifice for our inability to perform the first covenant perfectly. God demands perfection. We fail to be perfect; we sin against God and man. God demands sacrifice for sin. Sacrifice of the nature of Jesus’ is most holy and blessed. For it did not just cover up sin; it washed it away.I encourage you to have your sins removed and be clothed with Christ. Check out Romans 6
Another covenant that the faithful live with is that of the one amongst the faithful. That is the one that by agreement we share a mutual understanding in our collective walk together. In order for a body of the called out to function well and even survive; it must be in mutual agreement as to how to function as a group when we are together. There in lies the plea that was brought before my shepherds Sunday morning. It was shown by irrefutable evidence of scripture, history, prayers, study and the persistence of the Holy Spirit that the boundaries of our faith in practice and understanding must be moved.
The plea is one with a simple truth; a peak if you will. It is supported by many truths; ridges if you will. That peak is as plain as Kilimanjaro on the plains of Africa. The ridges are going to take time to understand in light of the clouds of darkness that have been lifted off of that beautiful peak. I firmly believe that they too will be understood and accepted by most of the called out. We will be wrenching in our brains a bit, but as we look at the whole of the beautiful mass in light of God’s good, pleasing and perfect will; we will find that His will with in His covenant is one glorious offering to us giving us a view of heaven as we feast on His love and share in that feast with one another.
Take care and choose well my friends.
This is such an amazing video! I can’t believe that it actually happened that way. And I’m so glad that you decided to share it, particularly while making the connection that sheep without a shepherd go absolutely nowhere. I’m excited to share this video with my children’s ministry students in order to demonstrate this point.
