Electronic Book Deals

I just bought the Logos version (electronic, readable via Logos or any of its several sister programs) of The Expositor’s Bible Commentary for $129.99. The same books on Amazon
would cost $549.99 or more.

I’ve not had occasion to use this commentary before, but I recognize the authors, and it is a very impressive list.

I also just found the Kindle version of  N. T. Wright’s Simply Christian: Why Christianity Makes Sense for $2.99. At that price, if you don’t already own the book, there is no choice. You … must … buy … and … read … this … book! It’s an incredible read — and it’s not only influenced my writing, it’s opened up avenues of Bible study that I may have never found on my own. (I didn’t buy it because I already have it in hardback and have read it at least twice.)

And I just bought the Kindle version of N. T. Wright’s The Kingdom New Testament: A Contemporary Translation for $2.99. I’m sure I’ll find this useful as I compare translations of key passages in future posts.

Speaking of kindle books, Jay I’m dying to get your take on a new book from my non-institutional corner of the church. “Conviction versus Mercy” by Gardner Hall is getting a lot of attention as an important and challenging book among the non-institutional crowd. It is a fascinating excercise in challenging the status quo while at the same time fighting to keep it firmly in place. It would be extremely helpful to a lot of frustrated people to hear you critique it. It’s relatively short and costs $ 0.99.
